Dear Perry Community,
We hope that everyone had a restful and healthy break with friends and family. As you are aware, we have seen an increase of COVID. The ODH has also released new recommendations (see below). Here is a summary of the new guidelines:
If you were exposed to someone with Covid-19:
-Wear a mask for 10 day and monitor for symptoms.
-We can not stress this enough *if you develop symptoms stay home.*
If you were exposed to someone with Covid-19 and have symptoms:
-Quarantine for 5 days from symptom onset starting on the day after symptoms started.
-Test as soon as possible.
-If you initially test negative, test again on day 5.
-You can return on day 6 as long as you are fever free for 24 hours and symptoms are improving.
-Wear a mask for an additional 5 days after you return.
The key to being able to continue in-person instruction now and into the future is dependent upon each of us doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID. There is enough information and resources available to help mitigate the spread of COVID but we must each choose to take advantage of both. COVID will probably be a constant into the future so our success is dependent on each of us doing our part.
Two proactive steps you can take are to follow the ODH recommendation of wearing a multi-layered mask and you are encouraged to stay home if you have any concern you may be COVID positive (even if you initially test negative). It has been found that the most accurate testing occurs around day 5, thus an initial test may be inaccurate.
The District currently has 15 active student cases and 12 active staff cases. Please continue to be patient as we have all learned this is a fluid situation and recommendations are always changing.
We look forward to everyone's return and a successful 2022.
