NEW YORK TO CALIFORNIA IN 18 DAYS!!!
There are 180 student days in a school year, and would you believe that Perry school buses travel enough miles each year to go from New York City to Los Angeles, California 111 times!?! Each school day, the 46 school buses transport 5,055 students to and from 23 buildings traveling 1,734 miles. In addition to daily transportation, our buses travel 60,000 miles yearly to and from extracurricular activities. The Perry Transportation Department employs one coordinator, two mechanics, 46 bus drivers, four transportation aides, and seven substitute drivers. The bus fleet consists of 51 buses. One of these are gasoline powered engines (with 3 miles to the gallon); fifty diesel powered engines (6 to 7 miles per gallon) make up the remainder of the fleet.
