MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT - Updated Nov. 18, 2025
As we move through the new school year, it’s important to take a moment to celebrate our progress and accomplishments while preparing for the challenges ahead. From academic achievements to exciting updates on the new middle school, there’s so much to be proud of as we work together to lay the groundwork for future success.
This fall, Perry Local Schools earned an overall 4-star rating on the 2024–2025 Ohio School Report Card, up from 3.5 stars last year. The report card measures student achievement, academic growth, graduation rates, and readiness for college, careers, or military service. Perry’s 4-star rating reflects strong performance across multiple areas. We saw gains in Progress, which tracks year-to-year student growth, and earned four stars in Achievement and Graduation. These results highlight the strength of our programs and the dedication of our teachers and students.
Alongside the report card, we’re proud to release the 2025 Quality Profile, offering a broader look at what makes Perry exceptional. The Quality Profile highlights opportunities in academics, the arts, and athletics that prepare students for life beyond school. I encourage everyone to explore the Quality Profile to see how Perry supports all students.
While we celebrate academic success, we also remain clear-sighted about the district’s financial reality. Like many Ohio districts, Perry is navigating rising costs and changes in state funding. Our Board, Treasurer Scott Pittman, and district administration remain committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and long-term stability. Together, we will continue providing clear, accessible information about our financial outlook and planning responsibly for the future.
I’m happy to share that the new middle school building is progressing according to schedule. The design team at BSHM Architects has completed the schematic phase, creating a two-story structure that reflects Perry’s character and priorities. Design development will continue through spring 2026, with early site work beginning in March and major construction starting that summer. The school is expected to open for the 2028–29 school year.
Perry Pride means working together to achieve success today while planning responsibly for tomorrow. We see this every day in the accomplishments of our students and staff, and in the careful decisions we make to protect the future of our district. Thank you to our families, staff, and community for your ongoing support. Together, we will strengthen Perry Local Schools for the students who call this district home.
Sincerely,
