New Middle School Location Selected

Perry Local Schools Confirms Hartwick Park as Site for New Middle School
PERRY TOWNSHIP, OH (October 29, 2024)—Perry Local Schools is excited to announce that Hartwick Park has been officially named as the site for the district's new middle school. This decision represents another significant step in the district’s comprehensive facility master plan, which aims to enhance educational facilities for Perry students without requiring new taxpayer funding.
The new middle school will be constructed through Perry Local Schools' participation in the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission’s (OFCC’s) Classroom Facilities Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide funding to the district to cover the entire project cost of $62,253,023. The funding for the project is secured through the OFCC under CFAP and the Expedited Local Partnership Program (ELPP).
“We are proud to move forward with the new middle school, which aligns with our long-term vision for upgrading our educational facilities,” said Nathan Stutz, Superintendent of Perry Local Schools. “Thanks to our partnership with the OFCC, this project is a great win for our students, families, and community—without requiring any additional tax dollars.”
Hartwick Park has been identified as the most suitable location for the new middle school, following careful evaluation. The park will be repositioned along 13 th Street to ensure continued community use, and Perry Local Schools is grateful to the Hartwick family for their support in this process. The district is now focused on engaging an architect by the end of 2024 and hiring a Construction Manager at Risk to oversee the project. This middle school project follows the successful opening of Perry’s three brand-new elementary schools earlier this fall. With these developments, Perry Local Schools is continuing to make progress toward creating updated, effective learning environments that will serve the community for years to come. “We look forward to the future and the opportunities these new facilities will
bring for our students,” added Superintendent Stutz. “Our community’s support has been instrumental in making these projects possible.”
